This prize is sponsored by the VMSC Management Committee in support of young scientists presenting their research at AMSA annual conferences, specifically for best student presentation with a focus on temperate marine science.
Dan is from the University of Wollongong (UOW) and his presentation was the culmination of his recently completed Honours project, titled Shell repair in an acidifying ocean: impacts on gastropod shell growth and integrity. His talk at the 47th Annual AMSA Conference held at UOW from 4 - 8 July, was judged best student presentation focusing on temperate marine science.
After completing his Honours degree, Dan received the UOW Bachelor of Marine Science Award for Best Performance in the Bachelor of Marine Science Honours Year 2009. Dan's research was supervised by Associate Professor Andy Davis from the School of Biological Sciences, UOW.
